Charles S. Kramer, Charles
Kramer earned his undergraduate degrees in economics and
political science from Colgate University in Hamilton,
New York and his law degree from Washington University
in St louis. He is a principal of the St. Louis, Missouri
law firm Riezman Berger, P.C. where his law practice focuses
on business litigation and contract negotiation.
He was
invited to become a principal of the firm after only
5 years and was elected to the firm’s management committee
3 years later and reelected for a second term. Following
his tenure on firm-wide management, Charles was asked to
head the firm’s commercial litigation department.
His client list stretches from local laundrymat owners
to a nationwide business cooperative, and everything in
between.
More importantly, however,
Charles began a writing career highlighted by humorous
and unique views of the world around him at the age of
13 when he penned an international award-winning comedy
newspaper for a youth organization. His poetry contributions
to various publications continued through high school and
college, and he penned his first novel (still unpublished,
darn it) while in law school. He has dabbled in stand up
comedy, and co-wrote two three act satiric plays which
humorously lampooned the legal system and society: "The
Life and Times of Douglas Ginsberg" and "Forward
to the Past" with co-group member Mark Levison. Kramer
and Levison’s law review article, published by the
Detroit College of Law, is also a unique turn, using the
long-tired format as a platform for both humor and an accurate
discussion of the role of natural law in American history.
One of Charles' earliest under analysis columns, "The
Trial of the Grinch for The Attempted Theft of Christmas" is now being adapted into an audio play by Satyr Communications
and will soon be available on CD. Charles' columns
are sometimes poetic, sometimes ironic, sometimes Hemmingwayistic,
occasionally serious, and sometimes downright odd. What else can we say?

I’ve seen…
it’s not just for lawyers,
but for business people and bankers alike."
